Dhawan strikes lucky in India win

Shikhar Dhawan capitalised on three strokes of good fortune with an innings of 116 that helped India claim a 2-0 lead in their one-day international series with Zimbabwe.

The tourists triumphed by 58 runs in Harare, Dhawan and Dinesh Karthik, who hit 69, having made the major contributions to a total of 294 for eight.

Dhawan was caught behind off a Kyle Jarvis no-ball when he had three to his name, dropped off the same bowler soon after and reprieved once again on 70 courtesy of some sloppy fielding in the deep.

However, there were also plenty of typically eye-catching strokes from the left-handed opener as he compiled a third ODI hundred in 17 matches.

Dhawan's 127-ball innings contained 11 fours and two sixes, while Karthik added six boundaries in his 74-delivery knock.

Zimbabwe were always likely to struggle in pursuit of such a stiff target, but made a positive start on the back of Vusi Sibanda's 55.

Brendan Taylor's men reached 109 for one after 20 overs, yet the dismissal of Sibanda - one of four victims for Jaydev Unadkat - sparked a dramatic collapse to 133 for six.

Elton Chigumbura, with 46, and Prosper Utseya, who finished unbeaten on 52, at least ensured the home team batted out their overs in reaching 236 for nine.
