Shehzad and Afridi undo Zimbabwe

Shahid Afridi contributed with bat and ball as Pakistan won the first match of their Twenty20 series against Zimbabwe in Harare.

Ahmed Shehzad laid the foundations at the top of the order for the tourists with a 50-ball 70, featuring six fours and a maximum.

In at number seven, Afridi provided a useful cameo of 23 not out and complied an unbroken sixth-wicket stand alongside Anwar Ali as Pakistan posted 161 for five – a total Zimbabwe never truly came close to challenging.

This was largely as a result of Pakistan’s slow bowlers strangling their progress in the middle overs – Afridi the pick with 3-25 from his allocated four.

Skipper Brendan Taylor top-scored with 32 not out and Malcolm Waller blasted 14 from seven deliveries – belatedly demonstrating an urgency Zimbabwe seldom displayed on their way to 136 for five.
