Chambers heads to Edgbaston

Warwickshire have added another bowling option to their squad by signing Maurice Chambers on loan from Essex for the remainder of the season.

Having seen their options limited by injuries and international call-ups, the reigning LV= County Champions captured Worcestershire paceman Richard Jones on a similar deal last week.

Chambers, whose last first-class appearance for Essex came in April, went straight into Warwickshire's squad for this week's game with Sussex at Edgbaston.

Warwickshire director of cricket Dougie Brown said: “Maurice has got lots of scope. He has pace, good control and is a good athlete.

“Chris Woakes and Rikki Clarke will both unfortunately miss this match against Sussex due to injury, so we’re very grateful to Essex for allowing Maurice to join for the remainder of the season.”
