Chapple retains Lancashire reins

Glen Chapple will unsurprisingly continue as Lancashire captain next season with Paul Horton set to serve as his deputy.

The indefatigable Chapple, who will be 40 when the 2014 campaign begins, enjoyed another fine year last time out as the Red Rose headed back to Division One of the LV= County Championship at the first time of asking.

He said: “It is going to be an exciting season for the club as we return to Division One of the LV= County Championship and compete in the reformatted one-day competitions.

“I am delighted to continue as captain of this fantastic county and I am looking forward to having a great working partnership with Paul as captain and vice-captain.”

Head coach Peter Moores added: “It's great news that Glen has committed to leading the team again in 2014 and the addition of Paul as vice-captain will give him valuable support and create an opportunity for Paul to further develop his own leadership skills.”
