Holly Colvin is enjoying the comforts of a trip to the Caribbean yet is already looking to getting to the serious business.
Colvin is with the England Women’s squad that will face West Indies and New Zealand in a Twenty20 tri-series before tackling the former in a three-match 50-over rubber.
They kick off their campaign in the three-team contest tonight at midnight when taking on the White Ferns, a game that will be shown live on this website.
Colvin told ecb.co.uk: “New Zealand are a side never to be underestimated. They have got some strong hitters amongst them and some canny bowlers, so they are going to be a tough side, especially out here in neutral conditions. It will definitely be a tough challenge.”
England’s side for this tour has been injected with some youth after Kate Cross and Beth Langston were handed call-ups.
“They are settling in really well and it’s quite strange being one of the older members of the squad at the age of 24,” added Colvin.
“It is great to have youth on our side. They are inexperienced and have no fear of the opposition, which was a massive advantage to me when I was younger.”
Cross and Langston, like their more illustrious counterparts, are no doubt enjoying the delights of such a tour.
“It is a fantastic place,” enthused Colvin. “Everyone is so relaxed here. You play hard and relax in the evening and I think that is a great combination.”
