County Cricket, July 16: As it happened

Keep updated on all of today's county action courtesy of ecb.co.uk's live blog:

6:30pm - That concludes our blog for today. Log on later to find out who gets the better of the Friends Life t20 clash between Sussex Sharks and Middlesex Panthers.

6:25pm - All three games have reached stumps on day two and here is how things currently stand:

Nottinghamshire are 131 for two, with Michael Lumb and James Taylor both passing 50 in the last over of the day as they look to respond to Warwickshire’s 463 all out. Laurie Evans reached 178 for last year’s county champions.

Lancashire are 93 for without loss at Emirates Old Trafford, with Luis Reece and Karl Brown unbeaten on 42 and 48 respectively. Glamorgan were bowled out for 474 in their first innings after 40-year-old Murray Goodwin made 194. Simon Kerrigan took seven wickets for the home side.

Kent are 200 for one, with Rob Key making a century, following Hampshire's declaration on 405 for nine.

6:19pm - Nottinghamshire duo James Taylor and Michael Lumb both nudge singles in the same over to reach their fifties.

5:45pm -  Kent are really getting a move on with their innings. Key has now reached 90 to move his side to 173 for one from 44 overs.

Lancashire are taking things slower at Emirates Old Trafford, having reached 76 without loss from 35 overs.

5:30pm - RESULT! Northants Steelbacks (206/3) beat Gloucestershire Gladiators (189/6) by 17 runs at Cheltenham.  Gloucestershire's fine efforts are ultimately in vain as a Northants total built around Richard Levi's blistering hundred proves too big an ask.

5:23pm - Gloucestershire have given it a real go at Cheltenham. Ian Cockbain has been caught off Azhar for 60, leaving his side needing 28 runs from the final over.

At Canterbury, Bell-Drummond joins Key in passing 50. Kent are 150 for one.

5:05pm -  Gidman's exciting innings comes to an end one run short of a fifty. After reaching 49 from just 18 balls, he is caught off the bowling of Muhammad Azhar Ullah.

4:56pm -  Notts have lost a second wicket at Edgbaston, Alex Hales trapped lbw by Jeetan Patel for 17.

Gloucestershire have six overs remaining and require 94 runs to win in their FLt20 fixture, with Alex Gidman impressing with 28 from just 11 balls.

4:40pm -  Key brings up his fifty with a four off David Balcombe as Kent approach three figures.

4:28pm - Lancashire's response at Emirates Old Trafford has continued to tick along after the tea break, with openers Karl Brown and Luis Reece still at the crease. The Division Two leaders are 36 without loss after 14 overs.

At Canterbury, Key has moved to 47 not out.

4:17pm - Gloucestershire's attempt at chasing Northants' massive total has taken a severe blow with the loss of three early wickets. David Willey removed Hamish Marshall, Michael Klinger and Chris Dent in his opening two overs to leave the hosts on 21 for three after four overs.

Michael Lumb and Alex Hales have made swift progress after the early loss of Steven Mullaney at Edgbaston. Notts are 34 for one after seven overs.

4:01pm - Tea has also been taken at Canterbury with Kent 82 for one. Rob Key and Daniel Bell-Drummond are unbeaten on 43 and 25.

Gloucestershire are under way in pursuit of 207.

3:49pm - Levi finishes unbeaten on 110 from 61 balls and Steven Crook hits the last two balls of the innings for six to reach 27 off 12 as Northants post a mammoth 206 for three!

It's tea at Emirates Old Trafford, where Lancashire have moved to 19 without loss.

3:32pm - Warwickshire are all out for 463, Fletcher emulating Adams and Patel by finishing with three wickets. An early tea is duly taken.

Levi has just taken 15 from a Dan Christian over to reach 87 from 53 deliveries. Northants have 159 on the board with three overs to come.

3:21pm - Gloucestershire may need to bat well at Cheltenham. With Levi, who recently brought up a 33-ball fifty, and Alex Wakely finding the boundary on a regular basis, Northants have reached 116 for two from 13 overs.

Luke Fletcher has bowled Jeetan Patel to leave Warwickshire 458 for nine.

3:07pm - Javid falls two short of his first-class best of 85, caught behind off Ajmal Shahzad.

Glamorgan are dismissed for 474, Kerrigan striking the final blow to finish with admirable figures of 7-162.

Kent are 35 without loss, while Northants have dashed to 72 for two from nine overs thanks largely to some big hitting from Richard Levi.

2:48pm - Glen Chapple has accepted a return catch from John Glover to leave Glamorgan nine down.

Ateeq Javid, who now has 75, has found a willing ally in Keith Barker as Warwickshire continue to pile on the runs.

Kent have made a positive start to their first innings against Hampshire, while Northants are 31 for one in the fifth at Cheltenham, Kyle Coetzer the batsman out.

2:30pm - There will be no double-hundred for Goodwin. He becomes Kerrigan's sixth victim - and fourth since lunch - having compiled 194 from 354 balls. Glamorgan have lost four wickets for 40 runs.

Northants have begun the process of setting a target for Gloucestershire in the T20 at Cheltenham.

2:22pm - Kerrigan completes a five-for with the scalp of Graham Wagg, leaving Glamorgan 443 for seven.

At Canterbury, Tredwell lands another blow, removing fellow spinner Danny Briggs. Hampshire promptly declare on 405 for nine.

Andre Adams has been off the field since before lunch, which is hampering Nottinghamshire's attempts to wrap up the Warwickshire first innings.

2:12pm - We have a flurry of wickets at last!

Evans is finally bowled by Samit Patel for a magnificent 178.

Tredwell claims a second wicket in as many overs for Kent, dismissing the dangerous Tanvir for 32.

And Simon Kerrigan has his fourth wicket in Glamorgan's first innings, having ousted Nathan McCullum.

In the Friends Life t20 match at Cheltenham, Gloucestershire Gladiators have elected to field against Northants Steelbacks.

2:04pm - Sean Ervine has been stumped off James Tredwell for 72, but Hampshire are still looking good to pass 400 with Sohail Tanvir scoring freely.

Murray Goodwin and Laurie Evans are unbeaten on 186 and 178 respectively.

1:46pm - Play has resumed with Warwickshire, Glamorgan and Hampshire looking to add to their already significant totals.

1:02pm - Time for lunch in the three LV=CC games. Here's a summary of how things stand:

Division One

Warwickshire are 383 for six against Nottinghamshire at Edgbaston, Ateeq Javid having passed 50.

Division Two

Glamorgan are 418 for five at Emirates Old Trafford versus Lancashire .

At Canterbury, Hampshire are 349 for six in their match with Kent .

12:49pm - Lancashire belatedly make a breakthrough as Mark Wallace falls to Simon Kerrigan for 37.

12:36pm - Good grief! Now Evans really is accelerating. He welcomes David Hussey into the attack with successive sixes before taking a single to move to 150. His last half-century came off just 37 balls!

Our fourth wicket of the day - and third at Canterbury - arrives as Darren Stevens has Adam Rouse caught behind for nine. Hampshire are 335 for six.

Glamorgan subsequently move to 400 for four.

12:25pm - Evans is getting on with things now, cracking the previously economical Samit Patel for three fours in a row.

12:15pm - Slow and steady progress is being made around the grounds.

Goodwin has passed 150 for Glamorgan, while Sean Ervine has a half-century for Hampshire.

11:49am - Evans, whose only previous first-class hundred had come for Surrey, reaches three figures with a four off Harry Gurney. He has put on 87 with Ateeq Javid so far and Warwickshire have a third batting point.

There is bad news for the Bears, however, with confirmation that Chris Wright has suffered a stress fracture in his back .

Glamorgan, still just four down, secure their fourth batting point with just under three overs to spare at Emirates Old Trafford.

11:45am - Haggett strikes again, winning an lbw verdict against Adam Wheater to leave Hampshire 305 for five.

Evans is one run shy of a maiden LV= County Championship hundred for Warwickshire.

11:30am - Glen Chapple has denied Jim Allenby a hundred, trapping the Glamorgan batsman lbw for 92. Murray Goodwin remains unbeaten in a total of 341 for four.

Michael Carberry's epic innings at Canterbury is over after he was caught behind off Calum Haggett for 154.

11:18am - As was the case yesterday, bowlers are finding wickets tough to come by in the sun. No breakthroughs as yet today for Notts, Lancashire or Kent.

10:55am - Not long now until the LV= County Championship games resume. Can Warwickshire's Evans and Allenby of Glamorgan reach three figures this morning?

10:43am - In the FLt20, Gloucestershire Gladiators and Northants Steelbacks begin their match at 2:30pm, while Sussex Sharks and Middlesex Panthers have a floodlit fixture from 7:10pm.

10:37am - Here's a reminder of how things stand in the four-day fixtures that began yesterday:
