Derbyshire try to tie down academy trio

Derbyshire have made a series of moves to try and keep on some of their youngsters.

Greg Cork, son of former Derbyshire and England all-rounder Dominic Cork, and Jonathan Marsden have penned deals for next year, while Ben Slater has been offered a one-year contract.

The latter, a regular in Derbyshire’s LV= County Championship side this year, has been offered terms following budget discussions.

Head coach Krikken said: “It’s great to be able to offer contracts to three talented young lads who are products of our academy. We’re looking forward to seeing how they perform and develop during the new season with successful careers being their ultimate aim.

“In the case of Ben, I’m delighted we’re now in a position to offer him a deal so we’re looking forward to working with him again next year.”
