England Women take Ashes trophy back to their home clubs

England Women's squad will be taking the Women's Ashes trophy back to their home clubs to share the celebrations of a successful summer with the people who have supported them throughout their careers.

The trophy will travel to the home clubs of all 16 players from the England Women's Ashes squad throughout September, to give club members and the local community the chance to meet players and see the Women's Ashes trophy.

Bath Cricket Club will be the first to host the trophy when Anya Shrubsole calls in on Sunday September 8. The trophy will then be on display in the north of England next week with Lauren Winfield, Katherine Brunt and Danielle Hazell, then in Lincolnshire with Arran Brindle on Friday September 13, before being handed over to Danielle Wyatt at Whitmore CC and Sarah Taylor at Walmley CC on Saturday September 14.

The following week will see Jenny Gunn take the trophy to Clifton Village CC in Nottinghamshire, Lydia Greenway, Laura Marsh and Natasha Farrant pay a visit to Hayes CC in Kent and Natalie Sciver call into Stoke D'Abernon CC in Surrey.

Holly Colvin will return to Middleton CC in Sussex on Sunday, September 22 and England captain Charlotte Edwards will be going back to Ramsey CC in Cambridgeshire on September 24, where it all began for her.

The trophy tour will culminate at Sandwich Town CC in Kent with Tammy Beaumont for their annual awards dinner on Sunday, September 29. A further date will be added in due course for Heather Knight to visit Plymstock CC in Devon with the trophy.

Charlotte Edwards said: "I'm delighted to be taking the Women's Ashes trophy back to Ramsey CC and that all the players will have the opportunity to share the trophy with their home clubs. We are all grateful for the support we received throughout the Women's Ashes Series from spectators, friends and family and this is such a great way for us to say thank you to those who have influenced our cricketing career.

"It's so important that we share moments like this with all who have helped us along the way and I hope our success and initiatives like this trophy tour can inspire many more girls to play cricket."
