England captain Alastair Cook has spoken exclusively to ecb.co.uk ahead of his squad’s departure for Australia next week.
Cook, who has been resting since England won the Investec Ashes 3-0 in late August, and Co convene tomorrow for fitness tests at Loughborough before a bonding trip over the weekend.
These activities mark the beginning of England’s preparations for the return rubber as they chase a fourth consecutive Ashes series win for the first time since the 1800s.
Cook said: “We’re meeting up on Friday, for fitness tests, and we’ve got a couple of days away as a team, away from cricket.
“I think once we get into that as a side, you start talking about what you need to do in Australia, that buzz and that excitement as a side, you look round to the guys.
“I’ve played quite a lot of cricket with a lot of these guys and we’ve had a lot of success. We want to cherish that and do it again.
“Just speaking to a couple of lads and looking into their eyes how hungry they are, we’re going to need that.”
This is just a taster for the exclusive four-part video interview with Cook. In part one, which will be on ecb.co.uk tomorrow, he talks about winning the Ashes this summer, his form and how it felt to lift the urn.
