Gale suffers broken hand

Yorkshire captain Andrew Gale is set to miss the Vikings’ next two Friends Life t20 games after sustaining a broken hand while fielding against Lancashire Lightning on Friday.

Gale will be absent for tomorrow’s home match with Leicestershire Foxes and Friday’s trip to Durham Dynamos. Azeem Rafiq will fill in as skipper, like in last year’s campaign.

"Andrew has a small crack in one of his bones in his left hand," said Yorkshire’s head physio Scot McAllister.

"He is feeling sore at the moment, but it should settle down. He should be back for the championship match next week against Derbyshire.

"He took a big blow, but he wanted to stay on the field. He will rest up this week and we remain confident that he'll be back for next week."
