Hooda five-for helps India beat Pakistan

Off-spinner Deepak Hooda claimed a five-wicket haul as India edged out bitter rivals Pakistan by 40 runs in their Under-19s World Cup Group A meeting.

Hooda took 5-50 in eight overs, ensuring Pakistan failed to chase down 263 despite 64 from skipper Sami Aslam.

India’s victory had been set up by Sanju Samson and Sarfaraz Khan, who struck 68 and 74 respectively in a total of 262 for seven.

Shadman Islam's sublime 126 not out eased Bangladesh to a 10-wicket win over Afghanistan in Group B.

It seemed the minnows were in the game when they posted 212 all out. However, such thoughts were quickly put to rest as Joyraz Sheik hit 81 not out in a stunning stand with Shadman.

Also in that group, Australia unsurprisingly had few issues brushing Namibia aside by 101 runs.

Matthew Short led the way with 96, his effort anchoring an innings of 242 for seven despite Bredell Wessells’ four wickets.

Namibia did not put up much of a fight in reply, crumbling for 141 as James Bazley and Matthew Fotia grabbed three scalps apiece.

In the day’s other game, in Group A, Scotland chased down 109 with six wickets in hand against Papua New Guinea.
