Leicestershire have been dealt a blow with the news off-spinner Jigar Naik has been ruled out for the rest of the season.
Naik, who is the county’s first-choice spin bowler, dislocated his shoulder while fielding off his own bowling in a Friends Life t20 encounter versus Notts Outlaws earlier this month and will play no part in the remainder of the campaign.
He said: "It is very frustrating being injured, and I am grateful of the support from my family, the coaches and team-mates.
"We have a superb medical team here at Leicester, led by Rob Leather (head physio) and Harj Singh (club doctor), and I am extremely confident that I will be back fitter, stronger and bowling better than I have ever done.”
Chief executive Mike Siddall added: “Jigar has had some really bad luck with injuries in the last two seasons. We hope that he will be fully fit for the start of next season.”
