Middlebrook penalised by ECB

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) today confirmed that James Middlebrook has received a penalty under the ECB's discipline code.

During Northamptonshire's Yorkshire Bank 40 match against Warwickshire on May 27 2013, Middlebrook was reported by umpires Richard Illingworth and Ismail Dawood for two Level One breaches of the code (showing dissent at an umpire's decision by word or action and using language that is obscene, offensive or insulting and/or making an obscene gesture).

The penalty for the initial Level One offence is a reprimand and the penalty for the subsequent Level One offence is three penalty points. These penalties will remain on his record for a period of two years and the accumulation of nine or more penalty points in any two-year period will result in an automatic suspension.
