No play all day at Grace Road

The first day of Leicestershire's final LV= County Championship game of 2013, against Hampshire at Grace Road, was abandoned without a ball being bowled.

Early morning rain and bad light prevented any play before lunch and, although conditions began to improve in the afternoon, the rain returned during the tea interval and umpires Martin Bodenham and Michael Gough made the decision to abandon any hope of play at 3:30pm.

This game represents Leicestershire's last chance to secure a four-day win this season. Regardless of the result, they will finish bottom of Division Two.

Hampshire have managed two wins and nine draws so far, leaving them sixth in the table with two matches to play.

Matthew Hoggard has been named in Leicestershire's squad of 12 and is set to make his farewell appearance having announced his retirement from the game a week ago.
