Surrey have signed Ireland all-rounder Kevin O’Brien on a short-term deal for the Friends Life t20.
O’Brien, who famously scored a match-winning 113 against England - the fastest hundred in World Cup history - two years ago, is available for Surrey’s next three t20 games.
The 29-year-old all-rounder, previously of Nottinghamshire, Gloucestershire and Somerset, has been named in a 13-man squad to face defending champions Hampshire Royals tomorrow evening.
Speaking to Surrey TV, O’Brien said: “From a personal point of view I’m just looking to go out and enjoy it. You look around the changing room and you’ve got world-class players, so it’s going to be a great opportunity for me to improve as a cricketer and try and take something from the guys I’m playing alongside.”
Surrey currently sit fourth in the South Group, but boast games in hand on many of their rivals and retain strong hopes of reaching the quarter-finals.
