Play severely limited at Leicester

Only nine balls were possible on the third day of Leicestershire's LV= County Championship Division Two game against Hampshire at Grace Road.

Hampshire added two more runs to their overnight total of 362 for two in that time, before rain set in and play was abandoned for the day after a 2pm inspection by umpires Martin Bodenham and Michael Gough.

With the first day completely washed out, the two sides will now need declarations to have any chance of fashioning a result on the final day.

Hampshire are set to start the last day with Liam Dawson on 136 and James Vince 147. Whatever the result Leicestershire, who have yet to win a championship game this season, will finish bottom of the table.
