Bad weather meant only 10 overs were possible on the first day of Gloucestershire's LV= County Championship match with Lancashire at Bristol.
The hosts won the toss and reduced their promoted opponents, who will be Division Two champions with victory this week, to 33 for two before first bad light, and then heavy rain, wiped out play for the day.
Will Gidman grabbed both wickets in an excellent opening spell from the Bristol Pavilion End.
With the final ball of his first over he had Paul Horton caught behind for a duck, Gareth Roderick taking a one-handed catch above his head. Horton clearly felt the ball had diverted off a pad and walked off slowly, shaking his head.
Worse was to follow for Lancashire in Gidman's next over as Ashwell Prince, also on nought, had his middle stump uprooted.
That was as good as it got for the home side as Luis Reece and Karl Brown took the score to 33 without further mishap, Brown with the help of two glorious cover-driven fours.
