Rain rules at Taunton

Rain prevented any play on the opening day of the LV= County Championship Division One match between Somerset and Yorkshire at Taunton.

Umpires Nick Cook and Martin Saggers decided at 4pm that there was no chance of getting play under way.

The teams have displayed contrasting first-class form recently. They met at Headingley three weeks ago, where Yorkshire dominated a rain-affected draw.

The White Rose county followed that up with an innings win over champions Warwickshire.

Somerset's games since, meanwhile, have brought a nine-wicket loss to Middlesex and a humbling two-day innings defeat to Sussex. Along the way they have been bowled out for 152, 265, 76 and 108.
