Australia batsman Steven Smith has flown home from the tour of England due to a quad strain.
Smith suffered the injury, described by Cricket Australia as "very minor", during a training session on Wednesday.
CA said that following Smith's involvement in the Ashes, and the preceding Australia A tour, a decision had been made to rest him from the upcoming limited-overs matches.
"Smith sustained a very minor left quad strain at training and after a demanding Ashes series the national selection panel (NSP) has decided it is best for him to return to Australia," a statement read.
"The NSP has advised that no replacement player will be added to the squad."
Australia won the first NatWest International Twenty20 by 39 runs at the Ageas Bowl yesterday.
That series concludes tomorrow at the Emirates Durham ICG before Australia play Scotland in a one-off one-day international and England in a five-game series.
