The Somerset County Cricket Club Annual Church Service will be taking place on Gimblett’s Hill at the County Ground, in conjunction with St. James’ Church on Sunday at 9.00 am prior to the Royal London One – Day Cup match against Sussex.
The service this year will mark the 100th Anniversary of the outbreak of the First World War and will remember the 13 Somerset Cricketers that sadly never returned to these shores. There will also be readings from Club President Roy Kerslake and Chief Executive Guy Lavender.
The Royal British Legion will also be in attendance with a number of standard bearers.
Gates will open at 8:30 am for those wishing to attend the service and if the weather is wet it will be held in The Old Pavilion.
There will also be a minutes silence prior to the start of the match.
