Several members of Somerset’s first-team squad turned out at Taunton to raise awareness for the Big Pink Balloon Race, which is raising money for the OSNA Fund Breast Cancer charity.
Alex Barrow, Lewis Gregory, Gemaal Hussain, Chris Jones, James Regan and Tom Abell all showed their support by releasing balloons at the County Ground.
The trustees of the charity are aiming to raise £75,000 to buy an OSNA unit, a machine offering intra-operative sentinel node analysis, for the Breast Care Department at Taunton’s Musgrove Park Hospital.
The Big Pink Balloon Race & Release will take place on August 4, at the close of play on day three of Somerset’s LV= County Championship match against Nottinghamshire.
To get involved all you have to do is sponsor a balloon for £2. All balloons will be numbered and released together, with the one returned from furthest away the winner.
First prize is £500 and there will be a number of runner-up prizes that have been kindly sponsored by the lead supporters of the race - including SCC, The Studio, Tone Leisure, Buff Urban Day Spa and Taunton Round Table.
