Sussex’s most prolific bowler of the last two seasons, Australian Steve Magoffin, is to remain with the club for the next campaign.
Magoffin, the county’s leading LV= County Championship wicket-taker in 2012 and 2013, told ecb.co.uk at the end of this term that he hoped to continue playing for Sussex and has now signed a new one-year deal to continue as an overseas player.
The 33-year-old Queenslander, who lives in the UK with his wife and young son, took 57 championship scalps last year and 63 this, including a career-best 8-20 in Somerset’s two-day thrashing at Horsham in May.
Magoffin said: “I am delighted that Sussex have asked me to continue at the club for the 2014 season.
“The last two years have been very enjoyable and I hope to continue to perform well for Sussex this coming season.”
Sussex captain Ed Joyce added: “It's great news to have Mags around for at least another season. He's led our attack brilliantly in four-day cricket in the last couple of years and has been one of the best performers in county cricket over that period as well.
“He is certainly a man in demand so to get his signature for another season is a relief.”
