Taunton Griffins mounted a fine recovery to beat Hursley in the final of the Women’s Indoor National Knock-Out Tournament.
The victorious Somerset outfit were Karla Rose, Trish Male, Nicole Sparks , Hannah Thompson, Lorraine Szczepanski, Georgina Adcock, Florence Broderick and Beth Sellick.
Seven teams descended upon Malvern College for this year’s pairs competition which consisted of two groups playing a round-robin stage before the two winners met in the final.
Taunton Griffins were runaway winners of group two with big wins against Sheffield Uni and Sheffield Transport, with Transport taking the deciding game against the University to finish group runners-up.
The top two positions in group one were still undecided going into the round of fixtures.
However, it was Hursley who defeated St Austells to claim the top spot and set up a final with Taunton Griffins.
The final was a tight affair with the result decided in the final over.
Batting first, Hursley made a blistering start but were pegged back midway through their innings to set a total of 47 for the loss of five wickets.
In reply Taunton lost three quick wickets and were indebted to their second pair for dragging them back into contention.
It was left to the final pair of batters to wrap up the win, adding 23 runs with the winning shot coming in the last over.
