Tigers keep Mushfiqur on for World Cup

Wicketkeeper-batsman Mushfiqur Rahim, who led Bangladesh to a 3-0 one-day series defeat of New Zealand, has been appointed Tigers skipper through to the 2015 World Cup

Bangladesh have appointed Mushfiqur Rahim as national captain through to the 2015 World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.

Mushfiqur, who recently led the Tigers to a 3-0 one-day series win at home to New Zealand after the Tests with the Black Caps were drawn 0-0, resigned the captaincy in May only to say he had made a mistake and be reappointed until the end of this year. A day after his reappointment he criticised the Bangladesh Cricket Board for its short-term decision.

Today the wicketkeeper-batsman said: "I feel honoured by the faith the board has shown in my ability to lead the Bangladesh team. This is also a fantastic opportunity for me to plan for the future with Shane (Bangladesh coach Shane Jurgensen), the players and the rest of the management.

"We have started to develop a better degree of consistency in recent times and I will try my heart and soul to maintain that positive vibe.”
