James Vince fired his second LV= County Championship century of the season to guide Hampshire to 289 for three before a waterlogged outfield forced a premature close at the Ageas Bowl.
The 23-year-old blasted his way to an unbeaten 118 from 126 balls on the second day of the Division Two clash with Surrey.
Vince scored heavily after resuming on 24 not out overnight to follow up his 144 in Hampshire's victory over Gloucestershire.

Hampshire's vice captain blasted his century from just 102 deliveries, including 15 fours.
Captain Jimmy Adams started the day on 56 after Hampshire closed day one at 153 for two, but he departed for 65, caught by Graeme Smith off spinner Zafar Ansari.
Heavy rainfall and the sodden outfield restricted the day's play to a paltry 31 overs, during which time Will Smith also added an unbeaten 23.
With no play in the afternoon session, the umpires called the day's close at the tea interval.
