Warner banned by Cricket Australia

David Warner has been suspended up until the first Investec Ashes Test for breaching Cricket Australia’s Code of Behaviour.

Warner pleaded guilty to breaching Rule 6 of the Code, which relates to unbecoming behaviour, having initiated an unprovoked physical attack on a member of the England team in a Birmingham bar on Saturday night.

The opening batsman’s ban means he will play no further part in the Champions Trophy and he will also miss Australia’s pre-Ashes tour matches against Somerset and Worcestershire.

In addition, Warner has been fined $11,500, although he will be eligible for selection for the first Test.
