The second youth Test between England Under-19s and their South Africa counterparts ended in a draw after rain washed out the fourth and final day at Wantage Road.
Skittled for just 77 on the second evening, the tourists responded with a much-improved display with the bat yesterday to reach 235 for four at the close, still 81 runs in arrears.
But with England sensing a final-day victory, the wet weather sweeping across the country came to South Africa’s rescue to ensure they took a share of the spoils in the series following the stalemate at Fenner’s last week.
Both teams now turn their attentions to the five Royal London one-day internationals that start on Friday at Edgbaston.
England play a warm-up match against an EDP Select XI at Loughborough University on Wednesday.
Good news - It's almost stopped raining. Bad news - The pitch looks like this and the rain is expected to return soon pic.twitter.com/TuhncAXEve
