The ECB Cricket Discipline Commission (CDC) today confirmed that Adam Wheater and Ben Stokes have received penalties under the ECB's discipline code.
During Hampshire's LV= County Championship match against Lancashire on 28th - 31st August 2013, Wheater was reported by umpires Jeremy Lloyds and Neil Bainton for two Level One breaches of the code (showing dissent at an umpire's decision by word or action and using language that is obscene, offensive or insulting and/or making an obscene gesture).
The penalty for the initial Level One offence is a reprimand and the penalty for the subsequent Level One offence is three penalty points.
During the England Lions match against Bangladesh A on 24th August 2013, Stokes was reported by umpires Jeremy Lloyds and Ben Debenham for a Level One breach of the code (bowling a fast short pitched ball and/or accidental high full pitched ball that results in the bowler being disallowed from bowling any further in that innings). The penalty for this offence is a reprimand.
These penalties will remain on their records for a period of two years and the accumulation of nine or more penalty points in any two year period will result in an automatic suspension.
