Denesh Ramdin has been dropped by West Indies for their first two one-day internationals versus Pakistan, both of which are in Guyana.
Ramdin’s absence is the only change from the squad that failed to reach the tri-nations series final, in which India thrillingly beat Sri Lanka yesterday.
He played in the first three games of the tri-nations, making 13 runs in his two innings, but was left out of West Indies’ fourth. Opening batsman Johnson Charles kept wicket in the latter and is set to do so again for the ODIs at Providence Stadium on Sunday and Tuesday.
Ramdin, who was banned for two games of last month’s Champions Trophy for falsely claiming a catch against Pakistan in the Windies’ competition opener, has made just one fifty since his ODI recall in October 2011.
Fast bowler Ravi Rampaul, who injured his ankle in the opening match of the tri-nations, remains sidelined. West Indies and Pakistan will play five ODIs and two Twenty20 internationals.
West Indies squad: Dwayne Bravo (captain), Tino Best, Darren Bravo, Johnson Charles, Chris Gayle, Jason Holder, Sunil Narine, Kieron Pollard, Kemar Roach, Darren Sammy, Marlon Samuels, Lendl Simmons, Devon Smith.
