Nottinghamshire have signed New Zealand all-rounder Andre Adams for the rest of the season.

The Trent Bridge side have had do without Ryan Sidebottom for most of the summer after he resurrected his England career, while injuries have also taken their toll.

That has persuaded the county to replace outgoing overseas player David Hussey - who is leaving to link up with Australia A after a fine season - with a bowling option.

Adams will join his fellow Black Cap and Notts captain Stephen Fleming and will make his debut in the LV County Championship match against Northamptonshire next Wednesday.

The 32-year-old has previously enjoyed a successful spell in county cricket with Essex from 2004 to 2006.

Director of cricket Mick Newell said: “Andre is an experienced and capable performer who knows all about the county circuit.

“He actually approached us asking if we were interested, given the situation with our bowling attack, and we were delighted to take him up on the offer.”
