Pakistan's Saeed Ajmal will once again represent Worcestershire this summer. "I really enjoyed my time at New Road in 2011," said the off-spinner

Worcestershire have confirmed Pakistan off-spinner Saeed Ajmal will return to the club for the duration of this summer’s Friends Life t20 competition.

Ajmal, who excelled by taking 24 wickets in the recent Test series with England, claimed 16 FLt20 wickets at an average of just under 11 during a successful spell at New Road last year.

The popular 34-year-old, who is ranked second in the International Cricket Council’s Twenty20 bowling rankings, said: “I really enjoyed my time at New Road in 2011 and look forward to returning this summer to help inspire the club to Friends Life t20 success.”

Worcestershire, who already have Phil Hughes on board as their overseas player for 2012, revealed last month that they had come to a verbal agreement with Ajmal to secure his signature.

Director of cricket Steve Rhodes said: “Saeed showed last summer what a quality bowler he is. His recent performances against England only go to back this up and we are delighted that he has agreed to return to New Road for a second time.”
