Bedson new Sussex president

Sussex have elected former Brighton and Hove Albion Football Club chairman Bryan Bedson as club president.

Bedson was chairman of Brighton for five years and is also former chairman and chief executive of the Wyndeham Press Group plc.

He said: “Having been a life-long supporter of Sussex, I am delighted and indeed honoured to be appointed president of the club.

“To hold the presidency in a year when we are defending our title as county champions makes the post even more prestigious.

“I look forward to what I’m sure will be another entertaining season, which we all hope will be just as, if not more successful than the last.”

Chief executive Gus Mackay added: “We are delighted that Bryan has been elected president for 2008.

“He is well known to those involved at the club having served on the committee in previous years.

“He is also well known within the business community of Sussex and will continue to bring a wealth of experience to the club.”
