Bromley beat St Just to book their place in the Cockspur Cup final – but will have to wait to find out their opponents as Caythorpe and South Northumberland were again thwarted by the weather.
Caythorpe made the trip to South Northumberland again and were quickly reduced to 61 for one; then the heavens opened and it rained, and rained.
The match was eventually washed out yet again, and the two sides have agreed to make a third attempt to play the tie on Sunday August 27. No doubt South Northumberland will be hoping that they make similar inroads when Caythorpe bat again.
The other semi-final did take place at Plaistow Lane in Bromley. St Just made the extremely long journey from Cornwall for the second week running and found the weather slightly better than on their previous visit.
With black clouds around they won the toss and asked Bromley to bat. Nadeem Shahid went off like an express train, blazing away and taking a number of risks. When he was out for a rapid 50 Bromley struggled to keep up the momentum.
Matt Isaacs then added some much needed impetus to the end of the innings and Bromley plundered runs from the last five overs to reach 253 for five - a score that was 30 more than they looked like achieving with 10 overs left, and this was to prove decisive in the end.
St Just started well with Graham Roberts leading the way, but they lost some early wickets and just as the middle order needed to increase the tempo then wickets started falling with alarming regularity.
When four wickets fell in four overs the task was suddenly too much for the valiant Roberts as he ran out of partners. He was ninth out trying to score at 11 an over from the last 10 overs on his own.
Isaacs, who also took two key wickets and a catch, was named as Man of the Match and received a bottle of Cockspur Rum for his efforts.
Bromley will now be waiting eagerly to find out the identity of their opponents in the Final at Lord's on Monday September 4.
