Yorkshire have appointed Canterbury as their official kit supplier for the 2008 season through until the end of the 2012 season.

The county have collaborated with Canterbury and the traditional cream four-day kit, the gold one-day outfit and the black Twenty20 strip have been boosted by the responsive IonX BaseLayer skins system.

BaseLayer Hot is worn when the temperature is hot and BaseLayer Cold when it is cold. Each product regulates temperature by incorporating the Canterbury Body Temperature Control system which is guaranteed to keep the wearer cool or warm depending on the conditions.

Ian Bishop, Yorkshire marketing director, said: “Canterbury has designed a playing kit that we think will make our competitors envious.

“The clothing is both visually appealing and scientifically designed to be responsive to our players’ requirements as well as being extremely comfortable to wear.

“I’d like to thank Canterbury for their hard work this winter and look forward to a long and successful relationship with them as our official kit suppliers.”

Martyn Moxon, Yorkshire’s director of professional cricket said: “We are very pleased with the clothing that Canterbury has supplied the club with for the 2008 season.

“The players love all three playing kits and I’m sure our supporters will be pleased to watch us play in the kit and keen to get the replica kit for themselves.”

Joe Middleton, CEO Canterbury of New Zealand, commented: “The deal with Yorkshire County Cricket Club brings together two brands that are looking to use technology and innovation in order to gain every available competitive edge on the field.

“The move into cricket marks an exciting time for the Canterbury brand as well as an excellent opportunity to showcase the expertise of the company to a new audience.

“Both Canterbury and Yorkshire CCC are companies with similar ambitions to grow and achieve success in the sporting arena, so this deal is seen by both parties as an ideal partnership.”
