David Morgan’s successor as chairman of the England and Wales Cricket Board is scheduled to be announced on Tuesday morning.
Current deputy chairman Mike Soper or Giles Clarke, of Somerset, will succeed Morgan, who is bound for the presidency of the International Cricket Council.
Soper and Clarke tied in the original ballot, sharing nine votes apiece with one abstention and then faced a challenge from Lord Morris, who initially revealed his intention to stand but later pulled out after detecting strong support for his rivals.
Clarke was nominated by Durham and seconded by Essex and Gloucestershire - while Soper’s backers were Surrey, Derbyshire and Sussex.
All 18 first-class counties and the Marylebone Cricket Club have been balloted and the electoral reform committee will inform the ECB of the successful candidate - who will serve until spring 2009 - on Tuesday.
Following weeks of campaigning, a second election was called by the ECB, with both men vowing to attract more votes.
