TwelfthMan: My account
The ECB has revealed that the team of youngsters who will compete in the Clydesdale Bank 40 will go by the name of the Unicorns.
Provisionally called the ECB Recreational XI when the draw for the competition was made in October, the side have been renamed to coincide with the confirmation of their fixtures and venues.
They are one of 21 teams who will take part in the inaugural 40-over league, which is split up into three groups of seven.
The Unicorns will be made up of players without full county contracts and will contest Group A honours with Lancashire, Somerset, Surrey, Sussex, Worcestershire and Glamorgan.
They will get their campaign under way on Sunday, May 2 against Surrey at the Brit Oval, and play their ‘home’ games at Bournemouth, Arundel, Kidderminster, Exmouth, Wormsley and Colwyn Bay.
The Clydesdale Bank 40 will begin the weekend before the Unicorns make their bow, when 18 teams will be in action. Lord’s will host the final on September 18.
