Jonny Bairstow

Yorkshire's Jonny Bairstow was one of four England players to win the Denis Compton award for their county's most promising player

England internationals Jonny Bairstow, Jos Buttler, Ben Stokes and Chris Woakes are among this year’s winners of the Denis Compton awards for the most promising player at each county.

All four made their senior England debuts in 2011 before touring India last month, although Stokes’ year ended on a sour note when he was sidelined for around six months after undergoing further surgery on his right index finger.

Eligibility for the award involves being aged under 23 and not contracted to the ECB.
