Doshi ends Derbyshire stay
Nayan Doshi has become the second player to leave Derbyshire in the space of three days.
The left-arm spinner’s contract has been terminated by mutual consent, less than 48 hours after former Surrey team-mate Rikki Clarke was released from his contract.
Like Clarke, Doshi spent less than a full season at the County Ground, playing just seven LV County Championship matches before asking for permission to leave.
Doshi, 29, endured a largely miserable summer with the ball, taking just eight wickets at 80 apiece in the championship, although his eight Twenty20 Cup wickets came at an average of under 25.
For the second time in two seasons he finds himself without a club, having quit Surrey last year, only for a prospective move to Warwickshire to fall through before he joined Derbyshire ahead of the 2008 campaign.
Derbyshire head of cricket John Morris said: “Following Nayan’s request to be released from his contract, this is the best solution for both parties. I wish him all the best for his future career.”
