Derbyshire have released former West Indies batsman Wavell Hinds and leg-spinner Mark Lawson.

Hinds spent two seasons at the County Ground as a Kolpak player, while Lawson lasted only one season following his move from Yorkshire.

Hinds scored two first-class centuries and five fifties in his time with the club, averaging almost 34, while Lawson took just four wickets in six LV= County Championship matches.

Head of cricket John Morris said: “Wavell has added some international class to our batting line-up as well as plenty of valuable experience in the dressing room for the past two years.

“However, with our young batsmen coming through and the Kolpak penalties to be taken into account, we have decided to look at different options for 2010.

“Mark has given his all for the cause in 2009 and he is a talented bowler who performed well for us at times, particularly in limited-overs cricket during the early part of the campaign.

“However, his opportunities to play first-team cricket became few and far between during the second half of the campaign and, again, we have elected to explore different options ahead of next season.”
