Derbyshire have appointed Keith Loring as chief executive following the departure of Tom Sears.
Loring was approved as the club’s first choice for the position at a committee meeting last night and will take over the reins when Sears departs at the end of next week.
He has worked as head of commercial at the County Ground since 2003 and played a key role turning around the club’s financial fortunes.
His previous experience as a chief executive includes 10 years with Brentford Football Club, and he was also at the helm for seven years at Derby County FC, a period which included the planning, building and opening of Pride Park.
Loring said: “Under the leadership of Tom Sears and with the assistance of my commercial team, the club has come a long way off the field during the past three years.
“However, with the forthcoming changes in the cricket competition plan for 2010, it is important that we look at every which way that we can improve the match-day experience of our members and customers.
“With John Morris’ team having been unbeaten at home in the LV County Championship this season, it is important that we match his ambition by improving the facilities at the County Ground.
“I will be working closely with chairman Don Amott in looking at every possible way that this can be achieved.”
