Garry Park has been rewarded for an impressive first season at Derbyshire with a new two-year contract
Greg Smith and Garry Park have signed new two-year contracts to remain at Derbyshire.
Smith, a 26-year-old South Africa-born all-rounder, was rewarded with a new deal after being awarded his county cap during yesterday’s NatWest Pro40 clash with Glamorgan.
He scored 977 first-class runs this year at an average of 42.47, and took 32 wickets at 34.31 apiece with his combination of medium-pace and off-spin.
Park, 26, enjoyed an impressive first season since joining from Durham, hitting his second century for Derbyshire in the final LV= County Championship match against Essex last week to take him past the 1,000-run mark at an average of 42.36.
Head of cricket John Morris said: “Both Greg and Garry have been an integral part of the team in all forms of cricket this season.
“They are talented young cricketers with time very much on their side and I am delighted they have committed to Derbyshire for the next two years.”
