Derbyshire land Wainwright

David Wainwright is the second Yorkshire spinner to join Derbyshire this season after Azeem Rafiq's spell with Karl Krikken's side
Yorkshire spinner David Wainwright will join Derbyshire on a month’s loan from July 2.
The 26-year-old left-arm spinner will provide cover while Tom Knight represents England Under 19’s in the one-day series against South Africa.
Capped by the White Rose in 2010, Wainwright has taken 77 first-class wickets in 33 appearances including two five-wicket hauls. He also has two first-class hundreds to his name and boasts an impressive economy rate in limited-overs cricket.
Derbyshire head coach Karl Krikken said: “Although we are delighted with Tom Knight’s inclusion in the England Under 19’s squad, he was looking set to play an important role for us with the ball in all forms of the game.
“We are, therefore, delighted the opportunity to sign David has presented itself and I expect him to be integral for us during a crucial period of the season.
“Looking at David’s record and watching him bowl it is clear he has all the attributes to be a very effective cricketer.
“A month of first team cricket with Derbyshire will give him the opportunity to stake a claim. If he does that everyone will win from this loan deal.”
