Durham collect more gongs
Durham have been recognised for their outstanding achievement in 2008 at the North East Sports Awards ceremony, picking up the team of the year award for the second year running.
Durham won the LV County Championship for the first time in their short history this season and reached the semi-finals of the Twenty20 Cup and Friends Provident Trophy.
The awards continued to go Durham’s way as Geoff Cook won the coach of the year award.
Durham chief executive David Harker said: “Both the team and Geoff fully deserved their awards last night.
“Winning the LV County Championship was a historic moment for the club and to have our success recognised in the wider sporting community is a proud moment for us.
“Geoff Cook’s involvement at the club spans two decades and his input has seen youngsters he has worked with through the academy come through the club set-up to become vital members of this Durham squad.
“His passion and dedication for the game has had a great impact on the team and his contribution fully deserves recognition.”
