Durham scorer handed testimonial
Durham have awarded their scorer and archivist, Brian Hunt, a testimonial year in 2009 as he approaches his 34th year in the role.
Hunt has witnessed first hand the transformation from minor county to LV County Champions, recording Durham’s progress along the way.
He first scored for Durham in 1975 and saw the club obtain first-class status in 1992 before they moved to their Riverside home in 1995.
Hunt scores for the 1st XI and spends his winters putting together records and latest statistics for the club yearbook and updating the archives throughout their 125-year history.
Hunt said: “I am absolutely overwhelmed to be awarded a testimonial year – it is wonderful for the club I am so proud to be part of, to allow me this great honour.”
Durham chief executive David Harker added: “Brian’s contribution to Durham County Cricket Club should not be underestimated and we are delighted to agree to a testimonial to recognise his work, not only as a our scorer, but as our archivist, roles in which he dedicates a great deal of time and passion.
“We hope that our supporters get behind Brian’s testimonial year to show their appreciation of all his hard work.”
Tom Moffat, who will chair the testimonial committee, said: “Brian’s record as scorer is a remarkable one and I’m sure that there will be many Durham members and followers that wish to support him by coming along to one of our events or by giving a donation.”
