Flower, Westley and Godleman fined
Essex have fined and severely reprimanded veteran Grant Flower plus youngsters Tom Westley and Billy Godleman for breaches of discipline.
“Grant Flower deliberately struck his stumps having being given run out in the Friends Provident t20 match at Hove versus Sussex Sharks last week,” said David East, chief executive of Essex Cricket.
“Tom and Billy were involved in separate incidents where damage was caused to property at Coggeshall Cricket Club after they had been given out during a second XI match last week,” he added.
“The club takes these incidents extremely seriously and all the players have been severely reprimanded and fined.
“In addition they have been warned regarding their future conduct and reminded of their responsibilities as ambassadors for Essex cricket wherever they are playing.”
Flower was last month reported for a level one breach of the ECB’s discipline code (using language that is obscene, offensive or insulting and/or making an obscene gesture) during the Eagles’ FP t20 match against Somerset Sabres at Taunton.
