Essex swoop for Mahmood
Essex have signed former Lancashire and England fast bowler Sajid Mahmood on a two-year contract.
Mahmood, capped eight times in Tests and 26 in one-day internationals, endured a difficult season last time out, prompting a brief loan move to Somerset.

Fast bowler Sajid Mahmood begins a new era next season after signing a two-year deal with Essex. He said: "I am delighted to be joining."
He subsequently ended his 10-year association with the Red Rose in September and was free to search for another club - culminating in the move to Chelmsford.
Mahmood said: “I am delighted to be joining Essex. Playing at Lancashire was a great experience for me and I thank them for all they did for my cricket.
“I see this move as a new beginning and cannot wait to get started. Paul Grayson has been brilliant throughout the recruitment process and I appreciate the faith he’s shown in me.”
Grayson expressed his delight at securing Mahmood’s services.
He added: “I’m really pleased Saj has joined the club. I like cricketers who feel that they have point to prove to people and he has lots of ability.
“He is experienced and he is a fit guy who can bowl with good pace as well so we feel Saj will be a real addition to the squad.”
