Welsh Dragons ready to fire in 2012
Glamorgan Dragons will become the Welsh Dragons in one-day cricket next year.
As the only Welsh professional county, Glamorgan have changed their limited-overs nickname to “reinforce their national pride” under newly-installed captain Mark Wallace.
“Every player knows that, in Glamorgan, he represents not just his county but also the whole of Wales,” said Wallace.
“We feel that honour and pride in everything we do. I am extremely proud to have been appointed the club’s 2012 captain and am very excited at the prospect of leading the Welsh Dragons.
“We want all talented Welsh cricketers to aspire to play for Glamorgan and, in the likes of James Harris, Will Owen and Gareth Rees, we already have a number of talented homegrown players making an impact in the team.”
