Dragons pair off to Sri Lanka
Glamorgan duo Gareth Rees and David Lloyd yesterday headed to Sri Lanka as they step up their preparations for the new season.
The pair will meet players from other sides on a nine-day training camp that will develop their cricket skills as part of the county’s affiliation with the Global Cricket Academy.
While in the sub-continent, they will benefit from intense training ahead of Glamorgan’s pre-season tour of South Africa next month.
"The idea of the training camp is to continue to develop the skills of these batsmen in new surroundings with top-notch facilities,” said elite performance manager Matthew Mott.
“Gareth and David will be able to take their winter indoor sessions to batting on first-class grass wickets, and just eat, sleep and breathe their cricket in the excellent conditions Colombo should provide this time of year.”
