The arrival of James Franklin at Gloucestershire left David Brown, right, scrapping for a place in the team at Bristol
Glamorgan have confirmed the signing of former Gloucestershire all-rounder David Brown on a two-year contract.
Brown, 26, a medium-pacer and middle-order batsman, was released by Gloucestershire at the end of the season after a year in which he struggled to hold down a first-team place.
Brown played three times in the Friends Provident Trophy, four games in the Twenty20 Cup, and five NatWest Pro40 matches. He scored 56, his most impressive knock of the season, against the Dragons in the Twenty20 Cup match at Bristol.
Glamorgan director of cricket Matthew Maynard said: “David is a talented young player who has made some impressive contributions against Glamorgan, and other counties, in both first and second XI games in recent seasons.
“I’m delighted that he has agreed terms with us for 2010 and 2011 and I’m really looking forward to working with David and helping him to reach his full potential.”
Brown added: “I’m really looking forward to the new challenge at Glamorgan. I’m impressed by the club’s ambition and I’m confident I can help them achieve it.
“There is a great combination of young and older talent in the dressing room and I can’t wait to be part of it.”
