Glamorgan have rewarded wicketkeeper Chris Cooke for his excellent second XI form with a two-year contract.
The 24-year-old, who was born in Johannesburg, has scored over 500 runs for the second string this summer, impressing in all forms of the game.
He has previous first-class experience having played for Western Provence, but the deal is his first professional contract with Glamorgan.
Director of cricket Matthew Maynard said: “Chris has impressed with the second XI this year and has played some excellent innings in both the Championship and Trophy matches,” he said.
“He has also shown he is a good wicketkeeper and, looking ahead, he will be a very good addition to our squad.”
